Our favourite five – August

Apologies – this is late in going live this month. I’ve had the last few days off and have been out and about with the boys trying to enjoy the last days of summer. I can’t quite believe how quickly the summer holidays have gone. E has one more week off before he starts Year 1 and in that same week M will also be starting nursery!  (sob!) We are off to Warwick Castle and Alton Towers for a few days next week so I am praying the weather holds out!

August has been a fun and busy month – we’ve had some really lovely days out, BBQs and went to a Chilli Fiesta too. Here are some of our favourites.

1. Spending quality time with the boys

It’s been great not having to rush around in the mornings to get ready for school. We’ve been to RHS Wisley, Bocketts Farm, Bird World, Sealife Brighton amongst other places and the boys have had so much fun running around in the open space and spending it exploring with friends.

2. Chilli Fiesta

This was our second year at the Chilli Fiesta in Chichester. We are lucky that we have friends that live close by so we really made the most of the weekend. It was nicely timed with a mini heatwave and we all had a great day enjoying the sunshine, listening to music, eating and generally enjoying the great outdoors. I think this is shaping up to be an annual event for us.

3. Amazon Fire TV Stick

We’ve had our Amazon FireTV Stick (affiliate link) for a few months now but have only recently started to make more use of it after we signed up to Amazon Prime. There is so much on offer (movies, tv shows and even games) it’s been really good for the boys, they are literally spoilt for choice. It’s been a bit of a lifesaver too as when Thomas was taken off Netflix we were in trouble! M watched it religiously every day but then we realised that it was available on FireTv – phew! E is also now addicted to watching Primeval and hubby has just started watching Thundercats! (the big kid)

4. Our Day out in London

We had a fab time out in London this week. It was the first time I took the boys on the tube and train by myself but I met up with a friend and her two girls which was fortunate as she could give me a hand with the buggy. I still can’t believe how unfriendly travelling on the tube and train is when you have young children. We went to the Leicester Square theatre to watch Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales followed by lunch and then a storytelling session with Jen from Milkshake at a blogger event in Hamley’s. We were all shattered by the time we got home but the boys thoroughly enjoyed their day.

5. #CookWithNeff Blogging Event

I was lucky to be invited by Currys PC World to visit Neff HQ for the day to check out their slide and hide ovens and do some baking/cooking. I’ll be writing up a full account of the day soon so keep your eyes peeled. It was really nice to be able to meet other bloggers and spend the day cooking and learning. I hope to be able to attend many more events like this in the future.

Mmm delicious lunch! #cookwithneff @_bakeityourself @curryspcworld

  1. Phew, looks like you’ve had a busy summer! We recently went to RHS Wisley and loved it too. I hope the weather gets better for your exciting trips next week. I’ve been wanting to take out girls to Warwick Castle for a while now but not sure they are old enough, so I hope you blog about it so I can make my mind up! Becky x #OurFaveFive

    • We have had a surprisingly busy summer even though I have been working. Weather currently looking “ok” for Warwick – hoping it stays that way as last time we planned to go we had to cancel! Will def look to do a write up on it xx

  2. Lisa@intotheglade

Looks like a great month Maria. The Chilli Festival would be right up my street, I wish I lived nearer. I would also love the Neff event, can’t wait to read your write up. i miss our annual visit to Hamley’s now the girls are bigger, that shop is fab! thank you for hosting and enjoy your last week of the holidays xx

  3. Blimey Mrs! You havent stopped! What a fab month. We love the Chilli Fiesta, we took Oscar when he was a baby, but he’s not been ready to take again since. Maybe next year? It is only down the road from us! Thanks for hosting!

    • I would def recommend going next year (we could meet up!) It’s so child-friendly and lots of open space so you could find a quieter spot away from the stalls and music to chill out if it gets a but too much. x
