Easy ways for busy mums to relax and de-stress

As mums, we are more often than not on the bottom of the priority list, aren’t we? It’s so easy to take care of the needs of your children, your husband and the house but you end up leaving yourself with no downtime to relax and unwind.

It’s imperative to take some time out for yourself for your mental and physical health. Else, you’ll end up like a pressure cooker and eventually you’ll blow. If your stress is getting out of hand you might also consider talking to a mental health professional.

Here are five easy ways you can relax and de-stress

Manage your mood with wearable tech

Use wearable tech like the Hapbee band to take control of your moods and switch from stressed out to relaxed in a few moments. The Hapbee band uses low energy magnetic fields to send signals to your brain that help to change your mood. Choose from six different moods including relax, calm, and sleepy for when you need to unwind and de-stress.

Meditation

Known to reduce stress and improve concentration, meditating can be done in the comfort of your own home. If you don’t think you can spare the time, all you need it to set aside 5-10 minutes a day and you can slowly build up from there. Why not allocate 5 minutes before bed to unwind from the day?

Give Yourself a Non-Surgical Present

Although we love our family and adore our children, the stress in our life is likely to cause wrinkles and fine lines on our face. The ageing process is not helping, though. Non surgical facelift treatments have recently been very popular among mums as these treatments do not require any downtime and they take approximately 1 hour. Plus, they are much more affordable compared to their surgical alternatives.

Treat yourself to a Spa

When was the last time you had a Spa treatment or massage? Just sparing an hour every month (or every few months) for treatment could do you the world of good! Places like Urban Retreat offer an escape to the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life and to unwind in a luxurious Moroccan environment. Bliss.

Relaxing bath

If Spa Treatments are out of your budget, light some candles and take a relaxing bath. Add a couple of drops of essential oils – they are known to have many health benefits.

Go for a walk and see your friends

It’s true what they say, sometimes you just need to head out and get some fresh air. A walk can help you clear your head and give you an energy boost to tackle the rest of your day. Laughter is the best medicine, right? So why not organise a meetup with your friends one evening? As a busy mum, it can be hard to remember the last time you saw your friends. It doesn’t have to be an expensive night out – they could come to you. A catch up over a glass of wine could do wonders.
