Things to do in Battersea with children

We are so lucky that we live close to London. It means there are plenty of places we can get to easily and with summer coming up I would really like to explore a little further afield and try out some new places.

One of these areas is Battersea. When I think of Battersea I instantly think of the Dogs & Cats home as well as the iconic Battersea Power Station. The power station is currently being revamped into a new complex with apartments as well as shops and restaurants and is one of the many up and coming places to live in London.

Usually, when we head to London we tend to head into the centre but there is family-friendly fun to be had in Battersea.

Thing to do in Battersea with children

Here are some of them:

Battersea Park
I think we could spend most of the day in the park on a hot summer’s day. There is a children’s playground suitable for children aged 1-7 as well as an Adventure Playground which is suitable for children from 5-16. The park has a café by the lake for refreshments and Italian food. Boats are also available for hire and not forgetting the Pump House Gallery which is in the centre of the park.

Battersea Children’s Zoo
The Children’s Zoo is a short walk from the park and is a good size for younger children. This would be a good place to visit to make the most of your day if you’ve already been to the park. My boys love animals so would love to see what the zoo has to offer them.

Markets
Battersea is also known for its markets. Northcote Road Market is one of the largest and has a variety of things to buy, from fruit and veg, meat, cheese and flowers to ceramics, clothes and handbags. Northcote Road would be a great place to have a mooch around before finding a restaurant or café for lunch.

Battersea Art Centre
Battersea Arts Centre runs an event called Family Saturdays on the last Saturday of the month with lots of free activities that include face painting, music and storytelling. Also available is an indoor play space called The Bee’s Knees which is filled with activities and games and a family friendly café.

Have you been out and about in Battersea with children – what other activities would you recommend?

Battersea is a stone’s throw from us and we often head over there. Have you checked out the new Go Ape adventrue ground? Also we can never leave without a trip on the Banana bikes – a great laugh for us and the kids. #picknmix

  3. I like that pagoda! I’ve not been to Battersea…

  4. Hi Maria, I just moved to London in Dec, and have 2 boys, 13 + 10. I haven’t been to Battersea in ages. I’m always looking for stuff to do with the boys though! Cheers. #KCACOLS

  5. I don’t think I’ve ever been there, sounds like lots of good things to do. Thanks for linking to #picknmix
