Children love a slushy, don’t they? Even as an adult I still love them and find them really refreshing, especially on a hot day.

We have a Mr Frosty maker that we got last year, but I tend to use this on weekends when I have more time as it takes a bit of preparing (you need to grate the ice) and energy to make it.

So when I heard about the Chill Factor Frozen Brain Slushy Maker that makes slushy in seconds I was all ears.

With the Slushy Maker, no ice or blenders are needed. I have to admit it sounded great in principle but I did wonder whether it would live up to the hype.

How does it work?

The Chill factor Frozen Brain Slushy Maker comes in two eye-catching designs. My boys were super excited when I told them what it was for.

The cup comes with an insulated part that you remove and need to pop in the freezer for 4-6 hours. Once ready, you pop the insulated part back into the cup and put the head of the monster design back on. I found this part really fiddly and it took a good few tries to get right.

The cup is then ready for your drink of choice to be poured in. You simply squeeze and it will magically turn into a slushy.

Our thoughts

Our first attempt at making a slushy wasn’t very successful. We’d put the insulating cup into the freezer for the suggested amount of time but the squash didn’t turn to slush and the boys were really disappointed. We tried a second time and this time we left the cup in the freezer overnight. This seemed to work much better and the boys got to enjoy their slushy.

Overall, we did find it was an easier way to achieve a slushy compared to Mr Frosty but it does take longer than the suggested few seconds of squeezing for the drink to turn into a slushy, in fact it took a good few minutes. The boys have loved using it though so I think I will be purchasing another so they can have one each and don’t have to fight over the monster cup!

The Chill Factor Frozen Brain Slushy Maker costs £12.99 and is available online and from most toy stores.
