The Health Benefits Of Essential Oils

Before I had children I was never really one to use essential oils but when I was pregnant with E, I was recommended them by a friend. I used a mix of Tea Tree Oil and Lavender for the bath and my goodness they were amazing!

How to use Essential Oils

As mentioned above, you can pop a few drops in your bath. If you don’t fancy doing this you can add into a bowl of steaming water and inhale that way. A diffuser or humidifier can also be used as well as applying oils either onto a cloth and apply to affected area or massage directly onto the skin.

The Health Benefits Of Essential Oils

There are many health benefits in using Essential Oils – there are literally hundreds and hundreds of them. Have a read of just some of the benefits below.

Relieve Aches and pains

We all tend to suffer from aches as pains as we get older. I suffer from back pain from time to time and I always carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck – probably not helped by sitting in front of a computer all day. Lavender oil helps soothe aching muscles as well as improve blood circulation. Cypress oil eases tension and swelling. It also helps flush out toxins in your body too.

Alleviate Cold and Flu symptoms

There’s nothing worse than having a bunged up nose when you are suffering from a cold. Lemon can help clear the nasal passages whilst oils like Eucalyptus and Tea Tree Oil can fight viruses and infections and reduce fever.

Balance Hormones

I suffered from post-pregnancy Hyperthyroidism after I had M which not only saw my mood go up and down like a yo-yo but my hormones were all over the place too. It was horrible. Apparently, it’s quite common after pregnancy but at the time I was convinced I was going through early menopause! I was suffering from hot flushes and heart palpitations.

Oils like Clary Sage, Sandalwood and Thyme which you can get from New Directions Aromatics Essential Oils can help balance hormones – and not just in women either. Clary Sage is known for balancing out Oestrogen production and Sandalwood helps balance out testosterone in both men and women.

Improve Digestion

I suffer bouts of indigestion and upset tummies from time to time. It’s part and parcel of getting old I guess. Essential Oils like Ginger, Tarragon and Peppermint can help relieve these symptoms. Ginger is known for reducing symptoms of bloating whilst Tarragon helps eliminate toxins. Peppermint, on the other hand, eases indigestion and gas. Did you know that there are also a ton of health benefits to CBD Oil and it can help with pain relief, depression and reducing anxiety.
