Review: The Hunting of the Snark at The Rose Theatre, Kingston

Originally a poem by Lewis Caroll, The Hunting of the Snark has been brought to life on stage and is currently showing at The Rose Theatre, Kingston.

I’ve said many, many times before how fortunate we are to have The Rose Theatre on our doorstep. We have seen so many fantastic shows and The Hunting of the Snark is no different.

The story starts off when we meet The Banker who deems money the answer to everything. He fails to see that his son is craving his attention and when he hears about a mythical creature called the Snark, he decides to set sail to Snark Island so that he can catch it to make money.

When his son is caught by the Bandersnatch, The Banker realises that money is worth nothing on Snark Island because he can’t pay for anyone to help him find his son.

Will he see his son again and will they ever catch the Snark?

Full of fun and adventure the show is hugely entertaining and there are plenty of gags that are laugh out loud funny for both adults and children. The songs are catchy, and as with most family shows audience participation is a must.

The Hunting Of The Snark is delightfully enjoyable. If you’re at a loose end this half-term I urge you to take your children to go and see it. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

The show is on at The Rose Theatre, Kingston until Saturday 28th October.
