Festive Family Fun at The Kingston Christmas Market

December is just around the corner but shops have been ramping up for the festive season ever since Halloween finished! I love the build-up to Christmas and the countdown to having some time off to spend with my family.

Surprisingly, we’ve never been to a Christmas lights switch on before so when we were invited to the Kingston Lights switch on and to check out the Christmas Markets we were rather excited!

We started off in the Alpine Village. There were traditional wooden cabins selling food such as burgers, pulled pork rolls and bratwurst as well as stalls for waffles, mulled wine.

We’d arrived straight after the boys swimming lessons and they were ravenous so we grabbed a bite to eat.

The Alpine Village has a dedicated seating area, part of it is undercover which is useful for keeping dry when it rains! We didn’t manage to find a seat in the undercover area but we did find a table to sit on so we could eat our burgers.

After food, we headed over to Clarence Street not far from The Bentalls Centre for the light switch on.

Kingston was packed full of people, it was really lovely to see everyone getting into the Christmas spirit.

New for this year was the Candy Cane Forest, set in memorial gardens next to Jo Malone. It’s a dedicated children’s area with some festive fairground rides. Tokens are needed to go on the rides. You get 12 tokens for £10, most of the rides cost 2 tokens each, apart from the bungee jump which costs 4 tokens

The boys loved this area and thoroughly enjoyed themselves here. We finished off a lovely evening back at the Alpine Village with some dutch pancakes whilst enjoying the live music on stage.

Take some time out from your Christmas shopping to enjoy the festive cheer that Kingston has to offer.

*We were invited to the Kinston Christmas Light Switch-On and received vouchers for food, drink and tokens for rides) for the purpose of this review.
