The Little Gym, Cobham

With two boys who are constantly on the go, they need to exert their energy in any way possible. At home, they run around chasing each other and weather permitting they spend their time in the garden bouncing on the trampoline and digging up my plants!

When E was a baby we attended weekly baby sensory classes which he loved – they were stimulating for him and helped him learn about the world around him. When M came along, though, I didn’t have the time to do the same with him so I would take him along to classes as and when I could.

Recently, The Little Gym got in touch and asked me along to their new opening in Cobham. I was really interested to find out a bit more about them and more importantly, to see if it was something the boys would enjoy. Due to work commitments, I couldn’t make the opening so they very generously invited us to try out some classes to see for ourselves exactly what they were about.

The Little Gym resides in a business park that is 10 minutes away from Cobham and is not far from Chessington (it’s pretty close to the garden centre) so really easy to get to. The advantage of it being inside a business park is the huge space they have indoors. I was genuinely surprised by the size of the main room when I walked in and loved the fact it has huge windows allowing as much natural light in as possible.

Classes are available for children as young as 4 months right the way through to 12 years old. The boys were put together in the Giggle Worms/Good Friends class because it was the best time slot that worked for us (after school on a Friday)

The class is for children aged 4-6 and although I was a little concerned about M being too young and struggling (he’s only 3 and a bit) he did have the benefit of being with his older brother who showed him around and helped.

Classes tackle a slightly different theme each week but essentially, the main aim is to help children work on their coordination and build their core and muscles with a variety of “kiddy-sized” gym equipment such as the beam, vault, bars and springboard. The instructors are very hands-on and manage to maintain the boy’s interest throughout the class with lots of different activities.

We checked out the newly Little Gym Cobham yesterday and the boys had a great time! @thelittlegym

I noticed a big difference in just a few weeks with both boys. E was more confident on the bars and M’s concentration massively improved. At the start, M would be hesitant about entering the room but after a couple of weeks he happily ran in and by week 4 he was attempting forward rolls all by himself!

The boys love going to The Little Gym – it’s currently one of the highlights of their week!

If you have active children or children who need to build up some confidence or even children who just like to run around a lot (like mine). I would highly recommend you try The Little Gym. The team at Cobham are so friendly and welcoming.

Your children will get to play and learn new skills without even realising it, whilst you get a whole hour to yourself where you can relax, watch what they get up to and most importantly enjoy a hot cup of tea!

  11. This looks amazing, the perfect place to take the children so that they can let off some steam, and burn off some energy. It’s great that they cater for such a wider age range, starting at 4 months. Brilliant for parents with two children, especially those with a baby in tow. I wonder if there are any more of these around, would love it if there was one closer to SE London. Thanks so much for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
