Review: Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder

*We were set the Meccano Huracan Spyder for the purpose of this review.

With a house full of boys I am always surrounded by toys like trains, Hot Wheels and LEGO. Most recently, the boys have taken an interest in Racing and Sports Cars so when we were sent the Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder to review they were very excited.

We’re no strangers to Meccano, we actually bought some Meccano Junior for E for Christmas which he really enjoyed getting to grips with.

The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, however, is recommended for children aged 10+ so this was going to be a task for me and Mr H to build!

The set has a total of 259 pieces, a screwdriver and a tool to help with the bolts, plus an instruction manual.

The instructions are broken down step-by-step and are quite detailed. I found the fact that they show the screws in actual size really useful as it makes it a lot easier for you to find which one you need when you are mid-build.

Building Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder

Unfortunately, about a quarter of the way through the build I realised that we were sent two of the same car part base which meant I couldn’t go any further.

I had to go to the support section of the Meccano website to request the missing part and wait for it to arrive before I could finish building. The missing piece came within 3 weeks which wasn’t bad considering it was posted from China.

Build time

I’ve not built Meccano before, the set probably took me a good few hours to complete and I found it pretty challenging. Some of the pieces were quite fiddly to put together so I think it’s most definitely suited to older children and adults who have a good level of concentration.

Tip!
Separate out all the pieces into sections before you start. I think this would shave down your build time considerably!

The model looked fantastic once it was complete and the boys were very happy to add a new car to their collection.

The Meccano Lamborghini Huracan Spyder currently retails at £29.99 and is available to purchase from all good toy stores and Amazon.
