New changes to the rules of the road

I’ve been driving for over 20 years now, and I have to be honest, I was not one of those people that passed first or second time. It took me a good few tries to nail the test. I remember religiously going through the highway code to remember my stopping distances and learning what the different road signs meant. I was desperate to pass though, to be able to have the freedom to drive where I wanted, when I wanted was amazing.

Things can change a lot over the years, so it’s really important to make sure you are up to date with the rules of the road. Changes are put in place to make the roads safe for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

Kwik Fit have handily created a new e-Book where you can find out about the most recent changes to MOT tests, the highway Code and more.

When I was learning to drive we were not allowed to practice on motorways until I had passed my test. This is now not the case – learner drivers are now permitted to drive on the motorway in their lessons as long as an approved driving instructor is in the car with them.

I’m pleased to see that this has changed. As a new driver who had just passed their test, I hated going on the motorway by myself. It can be rather daunting if you’d not done it before!

There are also new changes for when you are learning to drive, such as learning to use a sat nav in your lessons. Changes to the highway code include new rules with regards to overtaking cyclists. If you don’t adhere to these, you could be fined £100!

To make sure you keep up to date with the rules of the road you can download your copy of Kwik Fits eBook here.
