Recently, we were invited along to the newly refurbished Pizza Express in Camberley, Surrey. It’s around a half hour drive down the A3 from Surbiton.

We were in Camberley for E’s 7th birthday at Gravity Force back in May but before that, Mr H and I had not been into the town centre since we went to Art College over that way (many years ago now!) We were impressed with how much the town has changed.

The new look at Pizza Express, Camberley draws heavy inspiration from the nearby Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The subtle green seats combined with the chevron motif throughout the restaurant (on the wall tiles, the flooring and artwork) gives a nod to the military uniform and stripes associated with an officer’s rank.

The refresh of the restaurant coincided with some new summer additions to the menu and I was pleased to see that there was a new dish added to the Piccolo menu in the form of a Pollo Salad. It’s one of my favourite dishes from the main menu, although the boys wanted to stick to their usual Pepperoni Pizzas.

Mr H and I tried the Cod Crochette from the specials to start. We were a little disappointed that there wasn’t much of a kick from the jalapeños and felt the crochette should have had more flavour than it did.

As we’ve both been trying to eat a little healthier lately, we both had Leggera pizzas. They’re on a thin pizza base with salad in the middle.

I highly recommend these, they are packed full of flavour and at under 600 calories, you can’t go wrong!

As always, we had a lovely meal at Pizza Express. The staff were friendly and attentive and the service was good. We didn’t have to wait long for our food once it was ordered.

I love the fact that it caters well for all. The kid’s menu has always been a hit with children and you’re able to choose a lighter option if you are watching what you eat. There are also vegan and gluten-free options available too.

Pizza Express, Camberley is situated on Park Street and not far from the town centre and cinema.
