I love receiving happy post in the mail, and my boys are no different. They enjoy receiving post that is addressed to them and even more so when it’s an exciting surprise package.

We were recently sent a lovely subscription box from Tales by Mail that we wanted to share with you. We also have a giveaway at the end of this post for a chance to win April’s box so keep reading to get a taster of what the boxes are like.

Tales by Mail bi-monthly book subscription

Tales by Mail is a bi-monthly subscription for children aged 8-12 years old. The subscription box is packaged in a brightly coloured orange box that fits in your letterbox. When it arrived, the boys were curious to see what was inside.

Each Tales by Mail box is based on a theme. We were sent a Historical Heroes box, but past themes have also included: Whimsical Worlds and Magic Menageries.

Our box contained two themed books (The Queen’s Fool by Ally Sherrick and Darwin’s Dragons by Lindsay Galvin), chronicle activity cards, games and activities. We also received signed author bookplates, a Whimiscal Worlds themed badge and a desk planner, which was a lovely added surprise.

Tales by Mail subscription options

Tales By Mail offer several different subscription options with prices starting from £19.50. We were sent the Tales by Mail Sibling Subscription, which is ideal for sharing, but you can also order one-off boxes, which would be great as a gift as you can add a personalised message too.

Subscriptions can be billed either one-off, every other month, every 6 months or every 12 months.

You may be wondering why the subscription isn’t monthly. However, this is to give you adequate time to read both books in your box and to take part in the activities. There’s also a podcast available with each box that gives kids the chance to find out more about the author’s featured and is a great way of introducing them to the world of podcasts.

Hand-selected books direct to your door

If you have any concerns about receiving books that you may already have, there’s no need to worry. Tales By Mail will always choose one brand new release; the other will either be an older title. The books are hand-selected by Tales by Mail and will be suitable for all children aged between 8-12 and cater to all reading tastes.

Our thoughts on Tales by Mail

My boys are avid readers and love the idea of receiving new books through the post. It’s also great that they can share the books and talk about what happens in them afterwards. I am really impressed with the subscription box. Its brightly coloured packaging makes it hard to miss through the post. It’s educational, fun, and something I wished was available to me when I was growing up.
