Regularly check tyre pressure

Tyres need to be at optimum pressure to be able to run smoothly so it is worth regularly checking to make sure they are within the recommended settings for the make and model of your car.

Make sure the wheels are aligned

The same goes for making sure your wheels are aligned correctly. If they are misaligned, your tyres will wear unevenly and will need replacing a lot sooner than anticipated.

Rotate tyres

The tyres at the front of your car tend to wear out a lot quicker than those at the back. By rotating them you will extend the life of your tyres and wear them evenly.

Check the tread depth

In the UK it is illegal to drive with a tyre tread depth of less than 1.6mm but you are advised to replace tyres when they reach 3mm so it is wise to keep a check on this. It’s important to regularly check your car over, especially if you are driving long distance. Performance checks are a good idea so you can catch any minor problems before its too late.
