Which gemstone would suit your engagement ring?
There are many factors to consider when choosing an engagement ring. The style of the ring, the metal it is made from, and of course, the “gemstone.”
For many people, the gemstone is the cornerstone of a ring’s design as it symbolises and evokes feelings and emotions through distinctive meanings, charms and energies.
But, with so many different types of gems, it can be tough to decide on the perfect one for your engagement ring. If you’re having trouble deciding on the perfect style for you, we have listed five unique and eye-catching gemstones that would suit your engagement ring perfectly.
Sapphire
Sapphire is a highly sought-after coloured gemstone available in a variety of colours, including pink, yellow, and green. It is traditionally worn in blue because blue sapphire is said to bring happiness, love, and luck.
It is a popular choice for engagement rings because of two main reasons.
First, it is incredibly durable and has a Mohs scale rating of 9 out of 10. With a mineral that hard, you can be sure that it will last long, making it a wise and valuable purchase.

Secondly, it looks very similar to a diamond. Although it’s not as sparkly or shiny, it is well cut and gives you a luxurious feel without a hefty price tag. The Larsen engagement rings Brisbane studio has a good collection of bespoke sapphire rings that you can customise to fit your personal style.
Ruby
Like sapphire, ruby is a tough gemstone with a Mohs scale rating of 9, making it a durable option for engagement rings. But, there’s more to ruby than just strength and hardness.
Besides being sturdy and long-lasting, ruby is among the four rare precious stones (diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies), so you can stay confident that it will look grand and gorgeous.
It is typically red but can vary in saturation, tone, and secondary colours. This is why you might notice orange, brown, purple, or pink hues in some rubies.

A red ruby represents wealth, prosperity, passion, and love — all the right reasons to choose it for your engagement ring.
When buying a ruby, you would want to know the stone’s origin as the prices vary with the country of origin. For example, the Burmese ruby is the most expensive ruby in the market and rubies purchased from Thailand are usually the least expensive.
Turquoise
Turquoise is an opaque blue-green gemstone that has been used in jewellery for centuries. It is said to represent good fortune, protection, success, and peace.
This gemstone is perfect if you want something unique and different from the traditional engagement ring choices. Moreover, you’ll find amazing designs and patterns like veins, swirls, and webbing in turquoise that make it all the more special.

However, turquoise is quite a soft gemstone, with a Mohs scale rating of only 5 to 6.5, so it is not as durable as a sapphire or ruby. Still, it is strong enough to withstand everyday wear.
When shopping for turquoise, be sure to look for a stone with good colour saturation and few blemishes or inclusions (foreign materials or impurities).
Emerald
Timeless and elegant, emerald is a beautiful green gemstone that represents hope, new beginnings, friendship, harmony, and growth. Plus, it makes for an extraordinary statement piece when set in an engagement ring.

It has a Mohs scale rating of 7.5 to 8, making it a bit more delicate than sapphire and ruby but still durable enough to resist scratches.
Because of its rarity and unique colour, emerald holds a special place in the world of jewels and is widely associated with royalty.
In fact, the royals have always loved flaunting it — from the Duchess of Cambridge to ancient Egyptian queen Cleopatra, the emerald has always been a beloved jewel. So, why not add a royal touch to your engagement day outfit?
Pro Tip: If you are into free-spirited, hippie style fashion, your emerald engagement ring will also pair gorgeously with boho jewellery pieces.
Amethyst
Amethyst is a purple-ish violet variety of quartz that can be easily substituted for a diamond or other precious stones.
Its charming colour variations can add a touch of royalty and luxury to your engagement ring. In fact, it was once considered as valuable as diamonds or sapphires.
Amethyst is quite hard and durable. With a Mohs scale rating of 7, it’s considered solid for everyday wear.
Moreover, it is said to represent peace, purity, strength, and calming energy, making amethyst a perfect jewel to wear on your engagement ring and start a new chapter of your life.
So, there you have it! A list of precious gemstones that would suit your engagement ring (and possibly give you good vibes, feelings, and charms). Finally, while you are prepping for your big day, don’t forget to buy a gift for the man of your life!

![[AD] The sun has finally made an appearance and the boys have been making the most of it by spending it
in the garden.
They’re go-to is always football and they’ve been trying to improve their aim and accuracy with the new Messi Foldable Footlball goal from the #MessiTrainingSystem range.
I love the fact the goal is foldable, making it easy to store away when not in use. It is also lightweight so you can effortlessly pack it up and take it to the park or to a friend’s house.
The Messi Foldable Football Goal retails at £36 and can be purchased from @argos
