How to pass your driving test first time in three easy tips

You’ve finally booked your driving lessons and now you want to do everything that you can to make sure that you pass your practical driving test the first time around, get your full driving licence, and get on the road. But, passing the driving test isn’t easy; the examiner will be looking for anything that could signify that you’re not ready to drive safely on your own and will expect you to have an excellent knowledge of the roads and controlling your car. So, what can you do to improve your chances of getting a pass on your first try? We’ve listed some top tips.

Find a Good Instructor

The instructor with whom you learn to drive will have the biggest effect on how well you do on your driving test. After all, your ability to drive is highly dependent on how well your instructor teaches you and how good they are at noticing the weak points you have that could hinder your ability to pass. Before choosing a driving instructor, it’s important to do some research on their reputation and their pass rate for students. Today, most driving schools and instructors are on social media sites such as Facebook, where past students can leave reviews. This can be very helpful to potential new students, who are wondering who is the best instructor to go with. Personal recommendations from family and friends can also be an ideal way of finding the best tuition.

Practice Often

Whilst there are certain government guidelines given on how many hours of driving practice you should have before taking your driving test, it’s always better to do more. If it’s too expensive for you to be booking lots of lessons with a driving instructor, then you could get some practice in by using a friend or family member’s car. However, bear in mind that even if you are insured to drive a car, you will only be covered if you drive within the conditions of your provisional licence, which includes displaying red ‘L’ plates on the front and back of the vehicle and being accompanied by a driver with three years of experience who is over the age of 21. Don’t forget to practice your driving theory, too – this will not only help you to pass your theory test but will make driving easier when you have a better understanding of road signs and markings. Ask Questions

Lastly, it’s important to make sure that you go into your practical driving test without any unanswered questions that could get in the way of your ability to drive. Even if a question doesn’t seem very important to you or your instructor hasn’t brought it up yet, it’s always a good idea to ask as it’s better to know rather than go into your test wondering. The more knowledge you can gain about driving and the driving test, the more confident you will feel when it finally comes to the time to do it.
